Individual Counselling That Meets You Where You Are
Individual counselling is a collaborative process centred on your experiences, needs, and goals. It gives you a private, supportive place to explore what you’re feeling, understand recurring patterns, and develop tools that make everyday life feel more manageable.
There is no single formula that works for everyone. Our work together may involve processing difficult emotions, exploring the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, strengthening communication or boundaries, and finding practical ways to respond to anxiety and stress.
The goal isn’t to become a completely different person. It’s to understand yourself more deeply and build a life that feels more grounded, connected, and aligned with who you are.
Feel More Grounded, Clear and Connected
Counselling won’t remove every difficult emotion or make life suddenly uncomplicated. What it can do is change the way you meet those moments.
You may begin to notice anxiety before it gathers momentum, recognize patterns that once felt automatic, or find words for feelings you’ve carried quietly for a long time. Boundaries can become clearer. Difficult conversations may feel less daunting. Decisions can come from a steadier place rather than fear, guilt, or overwhelm.
For someone moving through grief, progress may not mean “moving on.” It may mean learning how to carry the loss without having it fill every corner of your life. During a major transition, it might look like trusting your own choices again. Sometimes it’s simply having a few reliable ways to settle yourself when the day feels like too much.
The goal isn’t a life without difficult feelings. It’s having more choice in what you do when they arrive.
A Compassionate, Practical Approach to Individual Therapy
I offer counselling that is warm, collaborative, and responsive to who you are. You won’t be expected to arrive with the right words or a perfectly defined goal. We can begin with what is happening right now and work from there together.
My approach considers both the emotional and physical experience of stress. Depending on your needs and preferences, sessions may include mindfulness, emotional-regulation strategies, practical coping tools, and techniques informed by CBT and DBT.
I may also integrate EFT tapping as one of the tools available within counselling. EFT combines focused attention with tapping on specific acupressure points and may be used to support grounding, emotional awareness, and nervous-system regulation. You will never be required to use EFT; our work will be shaped around what feels comfortable and helpful for you.
Above all, counselling is a place where you can feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment.
